A Chinese gilt-bronze figure of Guanyin
Ming-dynasty, 16th century
The deity finely cast seated in rajalilasana (royal ease) with both hands in bhumisparsa, symbolizing earthlyness by (almost) touching the earth. The figure is dressed in long robes decorated with flowers at the hems, wearing ornate jewellery and a crown set with a small figure of Amitabha Buddha.
