

A programme printed on Commodore Perry’s frigate Powhatan, for an: "Ethiopian Concert minstrel show on board this ship, weather favorable, to which the Officers invite your attendance". Hakodadi, Island of Yesso, Japan Expedition Press, 1854, May 29th. Second copy recorded of the printed programme and invitation to a show by the “Japanese Olio Minstrels”, on board Commodore Perry’s ship, comprising sailors from the ship’s crew, many performing in black face, but also a few African-Americans.
