A boxwood netsuke of a Dutchman
Edo period, late 18th century
Depicted as a Dutchman wearing typical knee-length trousers and an overcoat with a wave-like pattern, holding a dog in his arms. The netsuke was beloved by its owner and was extensively used, as can be seen at the damaged hat, and the worn face and dog.
