A wood netsuke of Futen with his sack by Shuzan

The figure is finely carved as if in motion, the wood with a beautiful dark patina.

Futen or Fujin, is the Japanese god of the wind. As one of the oldest Shinto and Buddhist gods he is depicted, most of the time, as an angry demon wearing his 'Bag of Wind' over his shoulders.
