Of octagonal form with a domed lid, finely painted in polychrome and gilt lacquer with dense floral sprays interspersed with figural panels depicting courtiers and attendants. The sides richly decorated with blossoming branches, while the lid features a seated nobleman surrounded by flowering blooms. The surface finished with a lacquered sheen characteristic of Kashmiri papier-mâché work.
Such kulahdan were used to house turbans, symbols of honor and high social status, and represent some of the most elaborate expressions of Kashmiri decorative artistry.
